Kaitlin Balasaygun is an early career journalist working as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Journalism at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism this fall for a video reporting class with Dean of Academic Affairs Duy Linh Tu. She's also working as a Social Media Video Producer for former NBC correspondent Mehdi Hasan's news outlet Zeteo. This past summer she worked for NBC Sports as a Video Production Assistant for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics. In May, she graduated with honors from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in the Visual Craft Track. Since graduating, Balasaygun has gone on to publish work in The New York Times. She graduated summa cum laude from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2023 with a double major in Communication Arts with a concentration in Journalism and Visual Arts with a concentration in Photography. While at Ramapo College, Balasaygun was the captain of the NCAA Division III swim team, a student photography lab aid, a student research assistant and an intern for eight different companies such as CNBC, USA Today and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Kaitlin has received 16 global, national and local scholarships and awards for her work in journalism and photography.
