Adaptive sports are leagues for athletes with physical or intellectual disabilities, and they exist at recreational and competitive levels. One in six people experience a significant disability, according to the World Health Organization. Yet, there is not much sports coverage on the importance and the community of adaptive sports. This photojournalism project highlights the accomplishments of adaptive sports teams and athletes in the New Jersey and New York area.
